But maybe with the help of some newbies, such as Hailee Steinfeld, the Bellas will take the world by surprise and end up “crushing” the competition.

So make sure you get your dancing shoes on and warm up those vocal chords, because Pitch Perfect 2 is swinging into theaters May 15, 2015.

But for now, enjoy a little throw back as ‘Cups’ is featured in the first trailer to the highly anticipated movie.

Justin and Selena — SYTYCD?

In the wake of Justin Bieber’s latest headlining news, the 20 year old pop star posted two exclusive videos featuring non other than his on again/off again girlfriend Selena Gomez, dancing for what one can only assume is an audition for So You Think You Can Dance. The video focuses on the couple rehearsing? performing? to the John Legend classic ‘Ordinary People’. The short clip, which has since been removed from Justin’s Instagram,  had some pretty intense moments, leading everyone to wonder just what exactly are these two up to again? Only time will tell. Until then, enjoy this YouTube video of the dance:

Jennifer Lawrence Convinced Shailene Woodley to Star in Divergent

(via: NYPost)

If you are like me, you are counting the days, hours, and minutes until Divergent hits the big screen. But from the sounds of it, if Shailene Woodley ever wins an award for her role in the film, she has to thank Jennifer Lawrence first and foremost.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Woodley revealed that Lawrence sent her multiple emails encouraging her to sign on to play Tris in Veronica Roth’s trilogy saying, “You must do it. You will not regret it for a second. Yes, there are some hard things, but there are so many beautiful things that will come from an opportunity like this.”

But the 22-year-old questioned whether or not signing a contract was the right move for her career. “Having come off a TV show, I was kind of in the place where I was like, ‘I’m never signing a contract for more than one movie,’ because once you do sign a contract, legally, you’re liable,” she admitted.

Shailene starred in ABC Family’s hit show The Secret Life of an American Teenager, where she spent five years of her career, then moved on to her breakout role in The Descendants.

She may not have brought home a huge chunk of change for her role as George Clooney’s troubled daughter in The Descendants, but THR reported that Woodley is looking to make between $250,000-$500,000 with Divergent, which hits theaters March 21st.

A Night of Oscars Firsts

While last night’s Oscars may go down in history for the most-retweeted selfie on Twitter, there were a couple of other notable Oscar moments that you may want to remember for your next Trivia Night.

Taking home the biggest award of the night, “12 Years a Slave” now holds the distinction for being the first film from a black director to win the Best Picture prize.  British director Steve McQueen accepted his well-deserved award for the historical slavery drama based upon the memoirs of Solomon Northup.  This first-time occurrence seems shocking when you consider the great works of such critically acclaimed black directors such as Spike Lee, John Singleton, Antoine Fuqua, and Lee Daniels – all who have previously had films nominated for Oscars.

It also took 86 Academy Awards for the first Latin American director to be honored with the Best Director Oscar.  Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón won the honor for his film “Gravity” which walked away with seven awards – the most of the night.  Outside of best director, the space thriller did most of its award damage in the technical categories.

We can only hope the Academy continues to think outside the box by honoring innovative and talented filmmakers regardless of their race, gender, sexual-orientation, and cultural background.  Hopefully next year will be another year of great Oscar firsts.  Don’t give up yet, Leo!
