Australian band, 5 Seconds of Summer, have announced that they will be joining the boys of One Direction for the American and Canadian dates of their 2014 Where We Are stadium tour. 5SOS–comprised of Luke Hemmings (17, guitar and lead vocals), Calum Hood (18, bass guitar and vocals), Ashton Irwin (19, drums and vocals) and Michael Clifford (18, guitar and vocals)–was first brought onto join the boys for One Direction’s 2013 Take Me Home tour after 1D’s Louis Tomlinson tweeted support of one of their videos. Soon after, the boys of 5SOS began gaining more fans worldwide, gaining momentum as they toured throughout the UK, Ireland, North America and their native Australia.
The Aussie boys took to social media to make their big announcement:
We are soooo excited to be supporting the 1D lads on their “Where We Are Tour” in the USA & Canada this year 🙂 The tour last year was a wicked experience and helped us take our band to places we never even dreamed possible. The 1D boys were quick to voice their excitement to have 5SOS join them once again as well, with Niall Horan tweeting “Ahhhhh yesssssss!! @5SOS are opening up for us again! TMH was great fun! But dudes we’re playing f’in stadiums! Agggghhhhh !” and Louis Tomlinson cheerfully adding “Can’t wait to have the @5SOS boys with us again on tour !!”
5SOS are currently in the middle of their sold out UK tour and are set to play another series of sold out concerts in North America in April of 2014.
The band also released the first single, “She Looks So Perfect” from their forthcoming EP of the same name on February 24th to rave reviews.
