Broadway superstar Idina Menzel has just been confirmed to perform the Oscar nominated hit, Let it Go from future Disney classic, Frozen at the Academy Awards in March. Menzel voiced the character of Elsa in the film which as of Sunday has crossed the $900 million mark in global box office intake with $913.7 million gross worldwide. Let it Go was written by husband and wife duo Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez and is nominated for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards. The three other nominated songs in this category are “Happy” from Despicable Me 2, “Ordinary Love” from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and “The Moon Song” from Her. The Academy Awards will be telecast on ABC on Sunday, March 2, 2014 from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
Just this past Sunday night, the cast of Frozen reunited in Bel Air for a live performance of songs from the hit musical at an event for industry insiders. All members of the principal cast were present including Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad. Missing was Jonathan Groff, who provided the voice for the character of Kristoff. The actor was reportedly sick and unable to attend.
